The Adamawa State Government has reaffirmed its readiness to support the Federal Government’s livestock value chain development policy as the Minister of Livestock Development, Mukhtar Idi Maiha, paid a courtesy visit to the state on Friday.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Barrister Auwal Tukur, assured the minister that the state is fully prepared to align with and implement federal initiatives aimed at transforming the livestock sub-sector
Barrister Tukur described livestock as a vital economic resource that must be effectively harnessed to stimulate economic growth and promote sustainable development in Adamawa State and Nigeria at large. He noted that the state is strategically positioned to play a leading role in livestock development due to its vast landmass and rich history of animal husbandry.
“The Fintiri administration remains committed to policies and programmes that will unlock the full potential of the livestock sector, particularly in the areas of job creation, food security and revenue generation.” He said.
Earlier in his remarks, the Minister of Livestock Development, Mukhtar Idi Maiha, said the visit was to appreciate the Adamawa State Government for its support and for successfully hosting the National Livestock Summit.
“This visit also provides me an opportunity for routine consultations with livestock communities and other key stakeholders, as well as an on-the-spot assessment of grazing reserves and existing facilities ahead of the implementation of the National Ranching Policy”. The Minister noted.
Top government officials recieved the Minister and accompanied to tour some key places.
