The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved a total of ₦762 million for an electricity project and the procurement of an official vehicle.

The State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, James Iliya, disclosed this after the council meeting presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.

According to him, ₦598 million was approved for the rerouting of electricity supply from Wuro Nyanka to Borrong. The project is expected to be completed within three months and will provide an alternative power supply route without crossing the River Benue.

The council also approved ₦164 million for the purchase of a vehicle for the Ministry of Environment, with the contract awarded to Triacta Nigeria Limited, to be delivered within the same timeframe.

Speaking further, the Commissioner for Rural Infrastructure and Community Development, Solomon Titus, explained that existing transmission towers have long caused power supply challenges in Borrong. He noted that frequent flooding of the River Benue weakens the towers, often leading to their collapse and power outages.

He added that the rerouting project is designed to provide a lasting and cost-effective solution to the persistent electricity disruptions in the area.
