The Adamawa State Government has pledged to construct a five-kilometre internal road network within Modibbo Adama University (MAU), Yola, as part of efforts to improve infrastructure and ease transportation challenges on campus.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri made the commitment on Saturday while addressing guests at the combined 29th and 30th Convocation Ceremony of the University.
He explained that the project reflects his administration’s determination to strengthen collaboration with the Federal Government and enhance facilities in tertiary institutions across the state.
A total of 5,707 students graduated during the ceremony from the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 academic sessions. The graduands received first degrees, master’s degrees and diplomas in various disciplines.
The event was attended by Governor Fintiri, his Cross River State counterpart, Prince Bassey Edet Otu, and other dignitaries from across the country.
Describing MAU as a pride of Adamawa State, Governor Fintiri commended the university management for its achievements and assured continued government support toward its growth and development.
Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibrahim Umar, highlighted the institution’s long-standing contribution to national development since its establishment in 1981. He reaffirmed the university’s commitment to academic excellence and the production of responsible leaders.
Professor Umar also announced the conferment of honorary doctorate degrees on four prominent Nigerians: the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; Cross River State Governor, Prince Bassey Edet Otu; Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa; and former Zamfara State Governor, Abdul’aziz Yari.
