The Adamawa State Ministry of Agriculture, through its Department of Agricultural Services, has trained over twenty women on coconut oil production to help them acquire self-reliance skills that will improve their daily livelihoods.
The training took place at the ministry’s office located within the Adamawa State Government Secretariat in Yola.
Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for the Adamawa State Ministry of Agriculture, Professor David Jatau, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr. Heldi S. Edga, commended the organizers of the training. She stated that the programme would help women become self-reliant within their communities.
She added that the initiative is part of the ministry’s commitment to empowering women with various skills to improve their standard of living.
Dr. Heldi also praised Governor Ahmadu Fintiri for his efforts in promoting agricultural development and for providing opportunities, especially for women and youths, to engage in self-reliant ventures.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the Director of Agricultural Services, Ibrahim Bayaso, explained that the decision to organize the training was influenced by the current economic challenges, noting that it would help ease the hardship faced by the women.
He emphasized the importance of women having sustainable sources of income to support themselves, their families, and the wider community.
Ibrahim Bayaso also appreciated the Commissioner of Agriculture, Professor David Jatau, for granting approval to conduct the training on coconut oil production, which he noted has significant health and economic benefits.
He advised the participants to make good use of the knowledge gained by sharing it with others in order to promote broader community development.
Some of the participants expressed their happiness about the training, stating that it would greatly assist them in becoming self-reliant.
They also assured that they would apply the knowledge they acquired effectively to achieve meaningful progress.
The women who participated in the training were drawn from different ministries, with their number exceeding twenty.
