The African Democratic Congress has commenced free online membership registration across the country, a move the party says is aimed at meeting the requirements of the Electoral Act 2026 on digital membership records.
In a statement shared on his official X handle, the party’s spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, said that registration on the digital portal (adcregistration.ng) follows the nationwide physical registration and revalidation exercise which began in Abuja last month.
He noted that only members whose details are “fully captured and verified in the party’s official digital register” will be eligible to vote or be voted for during its primaries.
According to the statement, the online option is designed to “remove barriers to entry, simplify enrolment, and ensure that every eligible Nigerian who wishes to identify with the ADC can do so seamlessly and securely.
He added that previously registered members must revalidate their membership on the new platform to comply with the new legal framework and Independent National Electoral Commission guidelines.
He said the exercise has already recorded “strong interest from Nigerians across states and the diaspora” since the launch of the grassroots registration in February, while urging support groups and associations to take advantage of the window.
He, however, maintained that the process is without prejudice to the party’s objections to the provisions of the Electoral Act 2026 that give undue advantage to the ruling party, while also reaffirming its commitment to building “a modern, inclusive and citizen-driven political movement capable of delivering credible leadership.”
