Contestants are kept indoors and they come up with strategies to keep their stay. The show is a popular reality television show and a platform for contestants to build visibility.
Each season has its theme, challenges, and structure. The show started in 2006,The winner of that season was Katung Aduwak, who became the first person to claim the grand prize in Nigeria’s version of the show. The show returned in 2017 with Season 2, called See Gobbe. The winner was Michael “Efe” Ejeba. The 2018 season was themed Double Wahala, Miracle Igbokwe won. In 2019, the season titled Pepper Dem ended with Mercy Eke emerging as the first female winner in the history of the show.

In 2022, the show was Level Up, which was different because the housemates were split into two groups at the start to compete separately. The winner that year was Ijeoma Josephina “Phyna” Otabor.
The eighth season in 2023 was the All Stars edition, which brought back contestants from previous seasons to compete for the prize again. The winner of this edition was Ilebaye Precious Odiniya. The ninth season, No Loose Guard, aired in 2024, Kingsley “Kellyrae” Sule won. The recent season, “10/10, “ aired in 2025, with Opeyemi “Imisi” Ayanwale won the grand prize.
The structure of BBNaija is consistent across all seasons. The contestants are required to participate in tasks assigned by the organization. These tasks often involve creativity, teamwork and strategies. Performance in these tasks sometimes lead the participants immunity from eviction and other benefits.
Adekunle’s comment on X shows his opinion that he stated that the “Level Up season” stood out among all ten editions. The winners of BBNaija over the years have included people from different backgrounds, regions, and professions.
