Abuja, Nigeria — The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) will hold its 32nd Annual Meetings (AAM2025) in Abuja, Nigeria, from June 25 to 28, 2025.
Themed “Building the Future on Decades of Resilience,” the event is set to become the largest in the bank’s history, with more than 6,000 participants from over 80 countries expected to attend.
AAM2025 will convene an influential gathering of heads of state, prime ministers, ministers, central bank governors, business leaders, academics, and investors from across Africa and the Caribbean (CARICOM) to drive forward the continent’s economic transformation.
High-profile speakers include President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former Nigerian President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, African Union Commissioner Ambassador Albert Muchanga, Columbia University’s Professor Jeffrey Sachs, and business magnates Aliko Dangote and Tony Elumelu.
Key discussions will centre on implementing the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), improving cross-border payments, and promoting Africa–Caribbean trade and joint ventures. There will also be a strong emphasis on private sector involvement in reforms aimed at lowering business costs and enhancing trade infrastructure.
Poised to catalyse billions in investment for critical sectors over the next decade, the meetings are expected to boost regional integration alongside policy reforms.
The signing of the Host Country Agreement on February 11, 2025 between Nigeria’s Federal Government and Afreximbank underscores Nigeria’s leadership and commitment to economic development.
Nigeria’s longstanding partnership with Afreximbank, dating back to the bank’s founding in Abuja in 1993, has already yielded over $52 billion in financing. The country is also the first host of landmark initiatives like the African Medical Centre of Excellence and the African Trade Centre.
Building on the momentum of the 2024 meetings in The Bahamas, this year’s event will continue strengthening South–South cooperation, with targeted panels on health, logistics, tourism, and creative industries. Attendees can also expect the launch of new initiatives, presentations of key research, and access to funding opportunities.
The event will be broadcast live on AFRICA24, with exclusive digital content and interviews offering wider global engagement.
