Global Afrobeats star Adekunle Almoruf Kosoko popularly known as Adekunle Gold (AG Baby) has officially released his sixth studio album, ‘Fuji’.

Adekunle Gold shared through his X(Twitter) account that creating this album was a long and highly personal journey. He revealed that the entire project was a labor of love that had been precisely “5 years in the making,” showing the serious amount of effort and time that went into every single song.

With the work now complete and released, the artist feels a huge sense of self-belief about his achievement.

“My ability to outdo myself continues to amaze me. It’s a reminder that I am truly capable of anything I set my mind on and so are you.”

The name of the album is a key part of the project’s entire message. Adekunle Gold chose to name it after the traditional Yoruba music genre, Fuji, to make a clear statement about culture, history, and his home city.

“I named the album after an entire genre because Fuji is bigger than music. It is Lagos, it’s street royalty, it’s our story, our hustle, our heritage turned global. What we see as everyday in Nigeria deserves to sit on the world’s biggest stages.”

He confirmed that the album is not intended to be a simple look back in time. Instead, it is a modern, forward-looking musical update.

“This is not nostalgia. This is reinvention. This is me carrying my roots into the future.” The project, he said, is ultimately a celebration: “My album Fuji, is a celebration of the music, the culture, and every Lagos boy who dreams beyond the city.”

The 15 songs on the album give listeners the clearest picture yet of Adekunle Gold’s personal life. He shared that the tracks tell the complete story of his life over the past few years, covering moments of both great joy and deep sorrow.

“This album is my story, the lessons I have learned, the friendships I have lost, the wins I have celebrated, the grief of losing my father, the joy of welcoming my daughter into the world, and so much more.”

The album is packed with star power, with a mix of African legends and global artists. The album includes the popular preview singles “Coco money,” “Bobo,” and “Believe.”

Adekunle extended a heartfelt gratitude to his fans for their loyalty through his many changes.

I’ve shown you many sides of me, changed my name, surprised you with music you didn’t ask for or expect, but you have stayed. You’ve given me your ears and embraced every single phase I’ve embarked on.”
