A former Minister of State for Health and later Foreign Affairs, Dr. Aliyu Idi Hong, has formally defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Hong announced his defection on Saturday during a ceremony held in his ward in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State, where he was officially received by party leaders and supporters of the APC.
Describing the PDP as a “sinking ship,” the former minister said remaining in the party would amount to political self-destruction. He explained that his decision was driven by the need to align with a platform he believes offers better prospects ahead of the next general elections.
Hong assured that he and other new members would collaborate with the existing structures of the APC to strengthen the party and secure victories at all levels in the forthcoming polls.
