The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has directed party members to stop further fundraising for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 presidential nomination form, following its purchase by a group of youths from Kogi State.

The youths, led by Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo, presented a ₦100 million cheque at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja on Monday, effectively procuring the form in advance for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Announcing the development, Yilwatda said no further contributions were necessary.

“With this payment, nobody should bother bringing money again to buy a form for Mr President,” he stated. “The form has now been procured in advance.”

The APC chairman commended the Kogi youths, describing their action as patriotic and historic. According to him, the gesture signals a shift in youth participation in governance, noting that young people are no longer “mere spectators” but active stakeholders in the political process.

Flanked by members of the National Working Committee (NWC), Yilwatda said the group cited improvements in the economy, strengthened security operations in Kogi State, and expanded opportunities for young Nigerians in government as reasons for supporting Tinubu’s second-term bid.

He also highlighted several youth appointments under the current administration, including positions in the military, government agencies and within the party structure. Describing the move as unprecedented, the chairman said it was the first time youths had taken the initiative to purchase a presidential nomination form on behalf of a sitting president.

Governor Ododo, in his remarks, said the decision reflected the appreciation of Kogi youths for what he called the President’s record recognition of young Nigerians in governance. The development comes amid growing political activity ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the APC leadership signalling early support for President Tinubu’s re-election.
