The Aspirants’ Screening Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Convention 2026 has publicly honoured the party’s National Chairman, Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, in recognition of what it described as his commendable leadership and steady guidance of the ruling party.

The committee, chaired by the Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, gave the rare commendation during a screening session on Tuesday in Abuja, where Yilwatda appeared before the panel as part of the party’s internal processes ahead of the convention.

In a symbolic gesture that drew applause from members present, the committee asked the APC chairman to “take a bow”, a mark of honour traditionally reserved for individuals whose performance and service are considered exemplary.

Recall that Yilwatda assumed office as National Chairman of the APC in 2025, taking over the leadership of the party at a critical period marked by internal restructuring and the need to strengthen cohesion across its ranks. Since then, he has been credited by party stakeholders with consolidating party structures and fostering unity among members nationwide.

The APC National Convention 2026 is expected to bring together delegates from across the country to elect new members of the National Working Committee (NWC) and set the strategic direction of the party for the coming political cycle.

The screening of aspirants is ongoing in Abuja, with the committee expected to submit its report ahead of the convention, which remains a crucial milestone for the ruling party’s internal democracy and organisational stability.
