By The Hilda Baci World Jollof Festival drew a large crowd of food lovers, dancers, content creators, artists and celebrities, turning the event into one of the biggest gatherings of the year. Among those present were Ogun State First Lady Bamidele Abiodun, actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele, musician Spyro, fashion designer Veekee James, influencer Papaya Ex and content creator Folagade Banks, who all came to show support.
Eniola, one of the attendees, told AfrikTimes that the day was filled with activities that kept the audience engaged. “The atmosphere was serene and was a vibe. There were many activities to keep us not bored. There were food stalls, different competitions and concerts, and it gave us the opportunity to network with others,” she said.
“It was great to see a woman being creative, like Funke Akindele said, not really expected of a woman. Her struggle while trying to turn and mix the tomato mix… it wasn’t easy, but she kept going,” Adeola another attendee explained. The highlight was the cooking segment led by Hilda Baci herself.
Adeola also spoke about the dance competitions that pulled huge reactions from the crowd. “The creativeness in different dance steps was on another.” she added.
Adeola praised the organisers for making registration free and described the event as both exciting and inspiring. “It feels amazing and surreal. We love Hilda. She’s an inspiration to all women,” she said. While suggesting that cooking should start earlier in future editions, she gave the festival a glowing review. “I would come again and again if this festival holds next year. I’d give it a 9/10 rating. Kudos to Hilda Baci,” she concluded.
Other attendees also noted that the presence of public figures such as Bamidele Abiodun and Funke Akindele added to the credibility of the festival, while entertainers like Spyro and Folagade Banks contributed to the lively mood. Many described the event as a successful blend of food, music, dance and culture, and said they would gladly return if it holds again.
