Sokoto, Nigeria – Ahmed Aliyu, the Governor of Sokoto, on Wednesday, August 27, reiterated his administration’s commitment to ending banditry and restoring lasting peace throughout Sokoto state. The Governor stated this while declaring open the 9th regular meeting of the State Executive Council at the Government House, Sokoto. The information was made available in a press release issued by the Director General, Media and Publicity, Abubakar Bawa.
Aliyu stated that the state government has continued to provide security agencies with the necessary support and logistics to intensify the fight against criminality in affected local government areas. He said, “We have equally introduced new strategies that, by Allah’s will, will help us end banditry in Sokoto State.”
He further described insecurity as a major threat that has crippled socio-economic activities in some communities, but assured residents that his administration is fully committed to tackling the menace. In addition, he appealed for the support and cooperation of citizens in the collective fight against crime.
In addition, on the issue of contracts awarded by the present administration across the state, the Governor charged the Commissioners to ensure regular inspection of the projects under their respective Ministries. He said, “By so doing, you will be able to assess the quality or otherwise of projects being executed by contractors.” Governor Aliyu also warned contractors that his administration will not tolerate low-quality work or unnecessary delays. He stressed that standards will not be compromised. According to him, the people of Sokoto state deserve quality projects.
