Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has emphasized the need for stronger synergy and cordial working relations between the Federal Government and subnational governments to ensure sustainable development and improved welfare for citizens.
The Governor made the remarks on Wednesday while receiving the Minister of State for Regional Development, Hon. Uba Maigari Ahmadu, who led the Board and Management of the North-East Development Commission (NEDC) on a courtesy visit to the Bauchi State Government House.
Governor Mohammed described collaboration with federal agencies as essential for national growth and progress. He noted that both federal and state governments must work deliberately to create an enabling environment for effective service delivery.
“Collaboration with the federal government and its agencies is key to growth and development. Both levels of government must take deliberate steps to ensure a conducive atmosphere for progress,” he stated.
The Governor commended the NEDC for its sustained interventions across the North-East region, describing the Commission as a symbol of partnership and shared commitment to rebuilding the region.
He expressed appreciation to the Minister and the NEDC leadership, particularly its Managing Director, Mohammed Goni Alkali, for their professionalism and dedication.
“Across Bauchi and the wider North-East, the impact of the NEDC is visible and meaningful, especially in education, healthcare, humanitarian support, and disaster management,” he said.
Governor Mohammed assured that all projects implemented by the Commission in Bauchi State would be properly maintained and utilized for their intended purposes. He disclosed that his administration had established relevant ministries to ensure effective coordination of federal interventions.
He also highlighted the humanitarian role Bauchi State played during the Boko Haram insurgency, noting that the state absorbed a large number of internally displaced persons through a community integration model.
“This influx placed pressure on our infrastructure and services, which is why partnership with the NEDC remains critical for our stability and development,” he explained.
While commending the ongoing projects, the Governor appealed for additional support, particularly in the construction of roads and bridges in hard-to-reach communities.
Earlier, the Minister of State for Regional Development, Hon. Uba Maigari Ahmadu, explained that his delegation was in Bauchi to inspect and commission several NEDC projects in sectors such as education, health, and infrastructure.
He praised Governor Mohammed for his transformational leadership and the remarkable development witnessed in Bauchi State.
“This is not the Government House we used to know. The transformation here reflects visionary leadership and commitment to progress,” the Minister stated.
The visit formed part of a two-day working tour aimed at strengthening cooperation between the Federal Government, the NEDC, and Bauchi State for the overall benefit of citizens.
