Nigeria — Big Brother Naija, Nigeria’s reality television show produced by MultiChoice, is a social experiment that brings together contestants from different parts of the country to live in a house under constant observation. Cameras record their interactions, activities, and participation in challenges. Since its relaunch in 2017, the show has been watched by millions across Nigeria and other African countries through television and online streaming platforms.
The tenth edition, called the “10/10” edition, aired in 2025 from July 26 to October 5. Ebuka Obi-Uchendu returned as host, continuing his role from previous editions. Opeyemi “Imisi” Ayanwale won the 2025 season.
Big Brother Naija’s format is structured around weekly challenges, tasks, and evictions. Contestants live together for several weeks in a specially designed house without access to phones or the internet. Each week, housemates face challenges designed by the producers, and viewers vote to determine which housemates remain and who leaves the show.
This structure provides the framework for a controlled social experiment, where interactions and behavior can be observed over time.
Since its relaunch, the show has produced a series of winners, including Katung Aduwak in 2006, Efe Ejeba in 2017, Miracle Igbokwe in 2018, Mercy Eke in 2019, Laycon in 2020, Whitemoney in 2021, Phyna in 2022, Ilebaye in 2023, Kellyrae in 2024, and Imisi in 2025. Over the years, the show has included twists such as paired editions, all stars editions, and themed competitions, which have introduced new dynamics in the house and varied the social experiment aspect.
The house includes areas for sleeping, cooking, and recreation, as well as spaces for weekly tasks and competitions. Cameras record contestants completing challenges and engaging in daily activities, allowing viewers to follow interactions and behavior over time.
As of February 1, 2026, no new season is airing. The show continues to be recorded and broadcast for viewers, maintaining the same social experiment framework that has been used since its relaunch. Through its format, Big Brother Naija remains a structured observation of housemate interactions, activities, and decision making in a controlled environment.
