Justice Belgore has transmitted the case file of the fundamental human rights enforcement suit filed by former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, to the Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory for reassignment.
The judge, who had earlier adjourned the matter to Friday to hear the applicant’s bail application, said the transfer became necessary as he is proceeding on leave.
The suit seeks the enforcement of El-Rufai’s fundamental rights against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, Department of State Services and the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation.
According to El Rufai’s media adviser, Muyiwa Adekeye, the former governor has been in custody since February 16, 2026, when he voluntarily reported to the EFCC and was later moved to the ICPC on the night of February 18.
The case is now expected to be reassigned by the FCT Chief Judge for continuation of proceedings.
