Sokoto, Nigeria- The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission announced today that a Sokoto State High Court has convicted and sentenced Rilwanu Yusuf to two years’ imprisonment for cheating.

According to the Commission, Justice Abubakar Adamu delivered the judgment after Yusuf pleaded guilty to a one count charge of cheating.

The EFCC stated that Yusuf fraudulently obtained the sum of ₦430,000 from unsuspecting victims by falsely claiming that he had the power to double money.

The Commission explained that the offence is contrary to Section 310 of the Sokoto State Penal Code Law and punishable under Section 311 of the same law.

The EFCC confirmed that the conviction followed Yusuf’s guilty plea and the review of facts presented before the court.
