EFCC Arraigns Businessman Over Alleged N24.3m Fraud in Delta

Warri, Nigeria — The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Benin Zonal Directorate, has arraigned a businessman, Oviri Oghenebrume Believe, alongside his company, Grant Impex Nigeria Ltd, before Justice H. A. Nganjiwa of the Federal High Court in Warri, Delta State.

The arraignment, which took place on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, follows allegations of obtaining 30,000 litres of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), commonly known as diesel, valued at N24.3 million under false pretence.

According to the EFCC, the accused obtained the product from one Patrick Egogo of Solutions Patrick Nig. Enterprises Oil and Gas Supply, claiming he had a Local Purchase Order (LPO) from Africa Alpha Realization Ltd and that payment would follow. Investigations, however, revealed the LPO claim to be false.

The charge reads in part:

“That you, Oviri Oghenebrume Believe, being the Managing Director of Grant Impex Nig Ltd, on or about the 7th day of October, 2022, in Warri, Delta State, with intent to defraud, did obtain 30,000 litres of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) valued at N24,300,000.00 under false pretence… thereby committing an offence contrary to Section 1(1)(a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006 and punishable under Section 1(3) of the same Act.”

The case highlights the EFCC’s continued crackdown on economic and financial crimes across Nigeria.
