The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has inaugurated Integrity Clubs in 18 public secondary schools in Potiskum Local Government Area of Yobe State, intensifying its grassroots campaign against corruption and financial crimes among young Nigerians.

‎The three-day sensitisation programme, held from February 9 to 11, 2026, was coordinated by the Commission’s Maiduguri Zonal Directorate as part of its preventive strategy to promote ethical values in schools.

‎Speaking during separate inauguration ceremonies, the Head of the Public Affairs Department of the Maiduguri Zonal Directorate, Deputy Superintendent of the EFCC (DSE) Jamilu Sale, accompanied by Inspector Babakura Galtimari and Inspector Salisu Ahmad Muhammad, urged students to shun criminal activities and uphold integrity.

‎Sale described the students as “leaders of tomorrow” and advised them to avoid acts that could jeopardise their future.

‎“You have opportunities that can guarantee you a bright future; therefore, steer clear of crimes,” he said.

‎He specifically warned against involvement in internet fraud, examination malpractice, forgery, impersonation, hacking and other related offences, expressing concern over the growing rate of youth participation in economic and financial crimes.

‎The EFCC official also cautioned students, particularly those with access to smartphones and internet-enabled devices, to resist the temptation of cybercrime.

‎According to the Commission, the Integrity Club initiative is designed to inculcate moral uprightness, discipline and accountability among students, while empowering them to serve as ambassadors of ethical conduct within their schools and communities.

‎Principals of the benefiting schools commended the EFCC for extending the initiative to Potiskum, noting that the programme would strengthen character development and reinforce discipline among students.

‎Schools where the clubs were inaugurated include Federal Government College, Buni-Yadi (domiciled in Potiskum); Federal Government Girls College, Potiskum; Moi Muhammad Abali Mega Government Day Junior Secondary School; Government Day Junior Basic Science and Vocational School;

‎ Government Secondary School, Fika (domiciled in Potiskum); and several other public secondary schools across the area.

‎The Integrity Club programme forms part of the EFCC’s broader preventive approach aimed at reorienting young Nigerians against corruption and other financial crimes.
