A top Nigerian Police officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, made a public announcement on his social media accounts today concerning the current impersonation that is being perpetrated against Nigerians.
According to officer Adejobi, there is an individual who pretends to be the speaker of the Lagos State House of assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, and is calling people on the phone, urging them to attend online conferences.
The scammer, according to the police officer, sends a link in people’s direct messages. When clicked on, it may interfere with WhatsApp accounts of the recipients and compromise their personal data. Officer Adejobi assured the citizens that Nigeria Police Force is investigating the case in order to arrest the fraudster. He urged all to be cautious, verify before taking any action, and not to click on links which have not been authenticated by any means, as he advises Nigerians not to be victims of scams.
