President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday swore in Taiwo Oyedele as Nigeria’s Minister of State for Finance, praising his experience, professionalism and dedication to public service. The brief swearing-in ceremony took place at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where the President described the appointment as a vote of confidence in Oyedele’s competence and commitment to national development, according to a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Tinubu commended the new minister for his leadership as chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, noting that his expertise played a key role in shaping policies aimed at simplifying the tax system, broadening the revenue base and creating a more business-friendly environment in Nigeria.

“We are very proud of your knowledge, your simplicity, ambition and excellence,” the President said, while also acknowledging the support of the minister’s family, particularly his wife, whom he praised for her understanding of the demands of public service.

According to the President, Oyedele’s dedication, patience and determination to serve the country made him a natural choice for the role.
