Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has approved the release of ₦8 billion to offset long-standing pension arrears owed to retired civil servants across the state.
The approval brings long-awaited relief to thousands of pensioners, many of whom retired from public service nearly two decades ago and had endured years of neglect under successive administrations.
For many retirees, life after service had become increasingly difficult, with unpaid pensions compounding their hardship. The fresh intervention, pensioners say, has rekindled hope and restored confidence that their years of service have not been forgotten.
Speaking on the development, the Chairman of the Adamawa State Pension Board, Ibrahim Abba, assured beneficiaries that the payment process is already underway and progressing steadily.
With the release of the funds, many pensioners now look forward to a more secure and dignified life after retirement.
