Ahmadu Fintiri has pledged to deliver overwhelming support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections, assuring the party that Adamawa State would contribute no less than 85 percent of its votes.

The governor, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), made the commitment during a visit to the APC national secretariat in Abuja. The visit followed a closed-door meeting with the party’s National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, and members of the National Working Committee (NWC).

Fintiri said the visit was intended to reaffirm his loyalty to the APC and his commitment to ensuring the party’s success in the 2027 elections.

According to him, his political camp has now fully aligned with the ruling party, describing the move as a “homecoming” for many of his supporters.

“We have fully aligned with the APC. Today’s visit is to formally pay a courtesy call on the national chairman and the NWC and to pledge our loyalty,” Fintiri said.

“We have come to work and to ensure we deliver the electoral value expected of us.

He also expressed confidence that President Tinubu would secure a second term, citing what he described as the administration’s strong performance since taking office.

While acknowledging that some of the president’s policies had been difficult for Nigerians, the governor said he believed voters would still support Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

Welcoming the governor into the party, APC National Chairman Yilwatda described Fintiri as a skilled political leader whose influence in the North-East would strengthen the party.

He praised the governor’s development efforts in Adamawa and said his entry into the APC would help advance the party’s “Renewed Hope Agenda.”

Yilwatda also addressed the ongoing challenges within opposition parties ahead of the next general elections, stating that it was not the responsibility of the APC to organise or strengthen its rivals.

“It is not our duty to organise opposition parties,” he said. “Our duty is to win elections by presenting our achievements to Nigerians.”

He added that recent local council election outcomes in parts of the country demonstrated growing public acceptance of the APC.
