Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has announced plans to establish a specialist hospital dedicated to the healthcare needs of women and children, as part of efforts to strengthen the state’s health system.
The governor disclosed this during an ongoing tour of the 21 local government areas of the state, while addressing residents in Yola North Local Government Area.
Governor Fintiri declared that his administration would no longer tolerate preventable deaths of women and children, stressing that such tragedies have no place in the 21st century. He explained that the proposed specialist hospital is a deliberate intervention aimed at improving maternal and child healthcare services across Adamawa.
He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to infrastructural development and inclusive governance, noting that the impact of his administration’s policies and programmes is already visible in all parts of the state.
“We will continue to serve the people with dedication, fairness, and sincerity,” the governor assured.
Speaking separately, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Yayaji Mijinyawa, and the Chairman of Yola North Local Government Area, Alhaji Jibril Ibrahim Jimeta, commended Governor Fintiri for executing what they described as transformative projects throughout the state.
While appreciating government interventions in health, education, infrastructure, security, and empowerment initiatives, they appealed to the governor to also extend greater support to traders and small business owners to enable them benefit more from ongoing development programmes.
During the visit, Governor Fintiri commissioned the newly constructed Yola North Local Government Area Secretariat, completed by his administration as part of efforts to improve local governance.
The event was marked by goodwill messages from community leaders, stakeholders, youth and women groups. A major highlight was a colourful display of traditional dances by various ethnic groups in Jimeta, showcasing the rich cultural heritage and unity of Adamawa State.
