By Four women have lost their lives while 26 others sustained injuries in a tragic motor accident along the Yola–Mubi road in Adamawa State.
The incident occurred on Monday evening as the victims were travelling to attend the Annual Convention of the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (LCCN) scheduled to hold in Demsa Local Government Area.
The Deputy Chairman of Song Local Government Area, Donan Prambe, said the women were members of LCCN Simra in Dunen town, Song LGA. He explained that he was driving behind the vehicle conveying the women when he suddenly saw it somersault into the bush.
According to him, three women died instantly at the scene, while several others were found unconscious and severely injured.
The bodies of the deceased and the injured victims were evacuated to the Specialist Hospital in Yola for medical attention.
The Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Dauda Wadinga, confirmed that those brought in alive are receiving treatment.
Meanwhile, the spokesman of the Adamawa State Police Command, Suleiman Nguroje, said he would provide further details after consulting the Divisional Police Officer in the area.
