The Governing Council of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Gombe, has approved the dismissal of four senior officials of the institution over allegations of gross misconduct.
Those affected by the decision include the Registrar, Alhaji Umar Muhammad Bello; the College Librarian, Yusuf Shehu Aliyu; the Director of Works and Services, Muhammad Ibrahim Malam; and Ibrahim Shehu, an internal member of the Governing Council representing the Non-Teaching Staff Congregation.
A statement issued yesterday by the Acting Director of Public Relations and Protocol revealed that the dismissals were ratified during the 7th meeting of the Governing Council. The meeting was held on January 31, 2026, at the headquarters of the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) in Abuja.
According to the statement, the decision followed earlier suspensions of the affected officers and was based on the outcomes of two independent investigations.
“The dismissals followed earlier suspensions and were based on the findings and recommendations of a fact-finding committee set up by the Federal Ministry of Education, as well as the Governing Council’s Investigative Committee, which indicted the officers on various counts of gross misconduct,” the statement explained.
In a related development, the Governing Council approved the appointment of Mallam Haruna N. Ayuba, the Senior Deputy Registrar, as the Acting Registrar of the College pending further directives.
The Council reaffirmed its commitment to upholding discipline, transparency, and accountability in the administration of the institution.
