By Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has inaugurated 11 Local Government Coordinators for the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), urging them to drive effective implementation of the programme at the grassroots level.
The governor gave the charge on Thursday in Gombe during the inauguration ceremony, where he was represented by his Deputy, Dr Manassah Daniel Jatau.
He explained that the Renewed Hope Agenda, introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to improving the welfare and living conditions of Nigerians across the country.
Dr Jatau noted that the initiative, championed by the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is aimed at empowering vulnerable citizens, supporting small and medium-scale enterprises, and promoting entrepreneurship among youths as a strategy for poverty reduction and economic growth.
He urged the newly appointed coordinators to live up to expectations, stressing that their dedication and performance would determine future opportunities and recognition.
The deputy governor also expressed appreciation to President Tinubu, the First Lady, and Governor Yahaya for their continued efforts toward improving the wellbeing of Nigerians.
As part of activities marking the event, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Inuwa Kari, flagged off the distribution of rice to vulnerable residents, describing the gesture as a measure to cushion the impact of current economic challenges. He called on citizens to sustain their support for both the federal and state governments.
In his remarks, the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Nitte Amangal, commended the Renewed Hope Initiative and charged the coordinators to carry out their responsibilities with commitment and integrity.
Earlier, the State RHI Coordinator, Aishatu Jibril Dukku, described the programme as a national social development intervention designed to complement the Renewed Hope Agenda through targeted support for women, youths, persons with disabilities, and vulnerable communities.
