Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has commissioned a modern Information and Communication Technology (ICT) complex for the Yobe State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (YSCHMA) to improve healthcare service delivery for over 300,000 enrollees across the state.

The facility, inaugurated in Damaturu, includes a biometric capture room, ID card printing unit, reception call and referral centre, ICT conference hall, service room, and administrative offices.

Represented by the Commissioner of Health, Dr. Mohammed Lawan Gana, the governor said the centre would eliminate delays associated with manual processes and reduce public complaints through efficient digital systems.

He stressed that sustainability remains a key priority of the administration, noting that maintenance and long-term functionality are integrated into all government projects.

The Executive Secretary of YSCHMA, Dr. Babagana Tijjani, explained that the ICT hub would enhance data management for vulnerable groups such as pregnant women, children under five, and indigent citizens benefiting from the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund.

He added that the system enables real-time verification of enrollees using National Identification Numbers (NIN), prevents duplication, speeds up claims processing for healthcare providers, and strengthens monitoring and evaluation across all 162 political wards in the state.

The ICT complex is expected to serve as a digital backbone for YSCHMA operations and support Yobe State’s drive toward achieving universal health coverage.
