The Governor of Taraba State, Agbu Kefas, has taken delivery of food items donated by the chairman of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, for distribution to underprivileged residents across the state’s 16 local government areas.

The donation, aimed at cushioning the effects of economic hardship on beneficiaries, included 30,000 bags of 50kg maize and 15,000 bags of 10kg rice, which have been released for onward distribution to targeted residents.

Receiving the items on behalf of the governor, the chairman of the State Palliative Committee, Hon. Saleh Sa’ad, described the gesture as a sustained annual intervention that has continued to positively impact the lives of residents.

He explained that the food items would be distributed through local government council chairmen, with strict directives to ensure they reach the intended beneficiaries at the grassroots level.

According to Sa’ad, the release of 30,000 bags of maize by Governor Kefas further underscores his administration’s commitment to alleviating hardship, particularly among vulnerable groups.

The Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Prof. Nicholas, commended the governor for the timely intervention for the people. He stressed the need for transparency and accountability in the distribution process to ensure that the items reach the rightful recipients.

In his remarks, the chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria in Taraba State, Hon. Moses Maihankali, expressed appreciation to Aliko Dangote for the donation and promised that council chairmen would ensure a transparent, fair, and equitable distribution of the items.
