The development was confirmed by Atlético Madrid director Mateu Alemany, who stated that the French forward will continue with the Spanish club.
“Griezmann stays with us,” Alemany said, putting an end to speculation about a potential immediate move to the United States.
However, Orlando City have not abandoned their pursuit of the 2018 World Cup winner. The MLS side are reportedly still in discussions over a possible free transfer in July, shifting their focus to the summer transfer window.
Griezmann has remained a key figure for Atlético Madrid, continuing to play an important role in the team’s attacking setup. A move to the United States later in the year could still materialise if negotiations between the player and Orlando City progress in the coming months.
