A coalition of women support group under the “New Hope Women Network” has presented a cheque of ₦2.6 million to support the re-election bid of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Women Leader, Mary Alile‑Adele, ahead of the party’s next national convention.

The cheque was presented during a courtesy visit to the office of the APC National Women Leader in Abuja. The delegation comprised representatives from Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, the Federal Capital Territory and members of the diaspora.

Speaking on behalf of the group, founder of the Women and Children Care Foundation, Joyce Anjumza Ibrahim, said the women collectively purchased the nomination form for Alile-Adele to encourage her to seek another term in office.

According to Ibrahim, the gesture reflects the group’s confidence in the leadership style of the women leader and her commitment to advancing the role of women within the party.

“We have gathered from the six geopolitical zones, the FCT and even from the diaspora to say that we want our Women Leader to return,” she said.

“We have seen the work she has been doing for women in the party and we believe her leadership should continue.”

She added that members of the network travelled from various parts of the world, including the United States, Europe and Asia, to participate in the presentation and demonstrate support for the APC women’s leadership.

Another member of the delegation, Ambassador Bilkisu Umar, said the group contributed funds for the nomination form because they believed Alile-Adele had demonstrated leadership focused on policy advocacy and greater political inclusion for women.

“The era we are in now is not about symbolic gestures; it is about real leadership that can push policies for women,” she said. “Our Women Leader has shown that capacity and we believe that if she returns, women in the party will be even stronger.”

The group described the ₦2.6 million contribution as a collective endorsement of Alile-Adele’s performance and a call for continuity in the party’s women’s leadership as the All Progressives Congress prepares for its next national convention.
