Lagos, Nigeria- Afriktimes has captured images from Amikanle Road in Alimosho, Lagos, showing streets with accumulated waste. The refuse includes household trash, plastics, packaging materials, and other debris, forming large piles along the roadsides. In some sections, drainage channels are partially blocked with waste.
Investigations indicate that the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) collects waste in some streets along the Amikanle axis, but certain streets have not received waste collection for years. The accumulation of refuse is visible on multiple streets in the area, with some piles extending along the edges of the roads.
Photographs show that the waste is spread across the axis, with plastics and other non biodegradable materials dominating the piles.

LAWMA is responsible for waste collection, transportation, and disposal across Lagos State. The images captured by Afriktimes document the current state of streets in this axis of Alimosho and the presence of accumulated waste in streets that have not been serviced for extended periods.
