The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies in Kano State have expressed full readiness for the by-elections scheduled for Saturday in Kano Municipal and Ungogo Local Government Area constituencies.
The Kano State Police Commissioner, Ibrahim Adamu, announced on Thursday that a comprehensive joint security arrangement had been established to ensure a peaceful and credible electoral process.
He disclosed that adequate security personnel had been strategically deployed to polling units, collation centres, and other critical locations to prevent any breakdown of law and order.
According to him, movement will be restricted in Kano Municipal and Ungogo Local Government Areas from 12:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on election day to facilitate the smooth conduct of the exercise.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC in Kano State, Ambassador Abdu Zango, commended security agencies for their cooperation and confirmed that all necessary electoral materials had been distributed.
He emphasized that the by-elections are intended to restore equitable representation in the State House of Assembly and further strengthen democratic governance at the grassroots level.
