AfrikTimes reported earlier today, March 5, 2026, that concerns have been raised over delayed stipends for interns at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC).
An individual named Ope Adeyemo reached out to Afriktimes in the comment section and shared that the hospital management had sent an internal memorandum titled “Conveyance of OAUTHC-Code of Conduct Reminder for Interns”, dated January 30, 2026.
The memorandum emphasizes that interns should avoid false, defamatory, or malicious public statements, communicate concerns through proper institutional channels such as supervisors, human resources, and relevant offices, maintain professionalism in all communications, and respect the hospital’s integrity. Management said constructive dialogue helps strengthen trust and speed up solutions.
The memo also assures interns that outstanding stipends will be settled promptly once federal funds are released and normal administrative operations resume after the ongoing industrial action. Updates on payments will be communicated through official channels, and the hospital reiterated that intern welfare remains a priority.
Afriktimes noted that under the post, some individuals claiming to be OAUTHC interns said they have not yet received their stipends.
