By A team of journalists covering the commissioning of projects by the North East Development Commission (NEDC) in Bauchi State has been involved in a road accident.
The incident occurred on Friday along the Yashi–Yelwan Duguri Road in Alkaleri Local Government Area while the media crew was accompanying an NEDC delegation on an official assignment.
The journalists were part of a team following the Minister of State for Regional Development, Alhaji Uba Maigari Ahmadu, and other officials on the handover of completed projects to the Bauchi State Government.
The accident happened shortly after the delegation commissioned a Government Secondary School (GSS) project in Yelwan Duguri.
Several journalists sustained serious injuries in the crash and were rushed to Yelwan Duguri Hospital for emergency treatment. They were later transferred to Bauchi General Hospital for further medical care.
Those affected include reporters and camera crew from Channels Television, African Independent Television (AIT), Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Arise News, and other members of the Correspondents’ Chapel covering the event.
Other members of the delegation included the NEDC Chairman and Managing Director, the Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, and senior government officials.
Authorities are yet to release an official statement on the cause of the accident.
