By A political group has launched a support movement for Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, amid speculation that the governor may defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Addressing journalists at the secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Bauchi, the leader of the group, Mohammed Maiwada Bello, said the governor’s achievements in the state deserved support and loyalty.
He explained that although the governor has not publicly denied the defection rumours, the group, known as Kaura Force, was formed to express solidarity with him.
According to Bello, Bala Mohammed is widely recognised as a tested statesman, experienced administrator, and a courageous voice for democratic accountability in Nigeria.
He added that under the governor’s leadership, Bauchi State has moved from years of limited development to a period of renewed progress, stability, and growing national recognition.
Bello also noted that the administration reflects the diversity of Bauchi State and Nigeria by bringing together professionals and technocrats from different ethnic groups and regions to serve based on merit and competence.
He described Kaura Force as a broad-based citizens’ movement that brings together youths, professionals, community leaders, civil society advocates, and grassroots supporters committed to protecting the developmental progress achieved in Bauchi State and strengthening democratic engagement in Nigeria.
The group further stated that through engagement with leaders of Islamic, Christian, and traditional faith communities, Governor Bala Mohammed has strengthened the culture of tolerance and unity in the state.
Bello emphasized that Bauchi State has long been known for peace, tolerance, and unity, adding that these values must continue to guide the group’s political discourse and collective actions.
