Governors Agbu Kefas of Taraba State and Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State**, alongside elder statesman Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma, have held a high-level security meeting with the Minister of Defence, Christopher Gwabin Musa, in Abuja to reinforce efforts aimed at tackling security challenges in the North-East.

The strategic engagement, which took place at the Federal Ministry of Defence headquarters, focused on strengthening federal–state collaboration amid renewed insurgent activities and isolated security breaches in border communities of both states.

According to a press statement issued by the Taraba State Commissioner for Information and Reorientation, Barrister Zainab Jalingo, the closed-door meeting was convened in response to rising asymmetric threats affecting vulnerable communities across Taraba and Adamawa.

Discussions centered on reviewing ongoing counterinsurgency operations, reinforcing forward deployment strategies, enhancing inter-agency intelligence sharing, and fast-tracking the deployment of additional military assets to identified flashpoints. Participants also assessed operational gaps and community-based security concerns requiring urgent federal intervention.

Governor Kefas reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and protecting the territorial integrity of Taraba State, stressing that sustained collaboration with federal security agencies remains critical to dismantling criminal networks and restoring lasting peace.

Similarly, Governor Fintiri underscored the importance of maintaining operational momentum and proactive field dominance to neutralise emerging threats before they escalate into broader instability.

Observers described the engagement as a demonstration of unity among key political and security stakeholders, signaling renewed determination to stabilise affected communities, rebuild public confidence, and consolidate peace across the region.

Also in attendance were representatives of the Chief of Defence Staff and the Chief of Army Staff, members of the Africa Nature Investors team, and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence.

The meeting, coordinated in Abuja with the statement issued in Jalingo, highlights ongoing efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture through coordinated federal and state action.
