Lagos, Nigeria- The Lagos State Government, through the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr Oluyinka Olumide, announced this evening that it has intensified enforcement on estates operating without approved layout plans and building permits.

The enforcement exercise was carried out by the Office of Physical Planning through the Directorate of Development Matters, led by Tpl. Hakeem Animashaun, following earlier warnings issued to estates in the Lekki axis, the state government stated.

According to the Lagos State Government, the enforcement reflects its zero tolerance stance on unauthorised developments, with estate developers urged to obtain the necessary layout approvals and building permits before commencing construction.

The Office of Physical Planning is statutorily mandated to ensure that all physical developments across the state conform to approved planning standards and regulations, the government emphasised.

“We will continue to enforce compliance across the State. Developers must prioritise obtaining layout approvals and building permits to avoid sealing and other penalties,” the Lagos State Government stated.

The state government explained that the enforcement drive forms part of its broader commitment to orderly urban development, infrastructure protection, and sustainable growth in rapidly developing corridors such as Lekki-Ajah.

Similar enforcement operations will be extended to other parts of the state to strengthen compliance and uphold planning standards, the government added.

The Lagos State Government disclosed that the enforcement team visited estates including Victoria Nest, Vistaview Estate, Empire Homes, JadeView Estate, BlessedView Homes, and Micrian Villa Estate, among others.
