Boyi Solomon Nyango has become the first Nigerian male to cross the finish line in this year’s edition of Lagos City Marathon road race, delivering a standout performance.
Nyango clocked an impressive time of 2 hours, 25 minutes and 32 seconds (2:25:32), showcasing endurance, tactical discipline and mental strength across the demanding 42.195km course.
The Lagos City Marathon, one of Africa’s biggest road races, continues to attract elite and amateur runners from across the globe, with Nigerian athletes keen to assert their presence against strong international competition.
The long-distance runner maintained a steady pace from the early stages of the race, positioning himself strategically among the leading pack before making his decisive push in the latter stages.
Nyango’s performance is expected to boost his profile on the domestic athletics scene and further inspire upcoming long-distance runners aiming to make their mark on the continental stage.
