Lagos, Nigeria— The Lagos State Government announced today, Thursday, that the Tutor General and Permanent Secretary, Education District II, Mr. Omotayo Layemo Sanni, received the South-West Zonal Best Teacher, Mr. Obafemi Peter Lawal, at the District Headquarters in Maryland.
According to a statement from the government, Mr. Sanni congratulated Mr. Lawal on the recognition, saying the award reflected his dedication, professionalism, and commitment to quality teaching in Lagos State. He urged Mr. Lawal to uphold the standards associated with Lagos teachers and to continue representing the District and the State positively.
The statement added that Mr. Sanni advised the award recipient to prioritise his personal and professional development through continuous learning and training to sustain excellence in the teaching profession.
Mr. Sanni was also quoted as reaffirming the Lagos State Government’s commitment to motivating teachers and promoting excellence across public secondary schools, while encouraging other teachers in the District to emulate Mr. Lawal’s conduct and performance.
In his response, Mr. Lawal thanked the Tutor General and Permanent Secretary for his leadership and advice, pledging to remain committed to the Lagos State Teaching Service, the statement said.
