Lagos, Nigeria– Lagos State Government announced today that it is partnering with MTN Nigeria to transform the Obalende under-bridge into a modern transport hub, to be named Y’ELLO Bus Park.
The project, located in Obalende, Lagos Island, aims to convert the area, previously described as degraded and prone to disorder, into a functional and secure space for commuters and residents. The redevelopment will include a regulated transport terminal, public facilities such as toilets and kiosks, and dedicated areas for waste management and security operations.
Officials said the design of the bus park will prioritise safety, health, and environmental sustainability, incorporating solar-powered lighting to improve night-time visibility and CCTV surveillance, a biodigester system to manage wastewater, and a recycling station to discourage illegal dumping. Tree planting and solar panel installations are also planned to enhance air quality and energy efficiency.
The state government described the initiative as part of its ongoing efforts to reclaim public spaces, improve urban infrastructure, and ensure facilities meet the needs of Lagosians in a modern, safe, and sustainable manner.
