Lagos, Nigeria- The Lagos State Government announced today that operatives of the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) Waste Investigation, Surveillance, and Enforcement (WISE) unit continue to take action against indiscriminate waste disposal across the state.
According to the government, during routine operations, illegal cart pushers were apprehended and dislodged for collecting and dumping refuse at undesignated locations, which undermines ongoing cleanup efforts and damages the environment.
The Lagos State Government stated that LAWMA confiscated carts in various locations across Lagos, including Anthony Oke (Newcastle axis), Ifako Gbagada, Alagomeji–Yaba, and surrounding areas.
The government emphasised that cleanliness is a collective responsibility and residents are urged to stop patronizing illegal cart pushers and refrain from dumping refuse on streets that have been cleaned multiple times.
According to the statement, sustainable cleanliness requires public compliance and support, rather than actions that sabotage ongoing environmental efforts.
