By The Lagos State Government reported that it hosted a reception at the Lagos State House, Marina, to congratulate student athletes who triumphed at the World School Games and African Youth Games. The State Government described the accomplishments of the athletes as a pride and global recognition to the state. This was disclosed today in a post by the official social media of the state.
According to the Lagos State Government, Lekan Fatodu, who is the Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, congratulated the athletes for their efforts. The government added that the accomplishments demonstrate that the effort they put towards creating grassroots sports and establishing Lagos as a sporting center was effective.
The Lagos State Government opined that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu was also present at the event, where he stated that the performance of the athletes was a great moment for the state. The government further added that the Governor emphasized on hard work and the capacity of the young talents in Lagos.
The statement also noted that the Governor added that the state is determined to invest in youth development, sport infrastructures, and alliances that will open more opportunities for young talents to succeed globally.
The announcement further added that the accomplishments of the young champions will serve as an ongoing source of inspiration for future generations.
