By Lagos, Nigeria- Officials of the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) have apprehended an individual for illegally dumping waste at an unauthorized location in Tinubu Square, Lagos Island.
The incident happened in the early hours of Sunday during routine monitoring and enforcement activities. Officers involved were from the LAWMA Waste Investigation, Surveillance and Enforcement team as well as the LAWMA Waste Policing Team.
Illegal dumping of refuse at unapproved locations is an offence under Lagos State environmental sanitation laws, which require residents and businesses to dispose of their waste through approved channels.
The Lagos State Government announced the development on Sunday evening as part of ongoing updates on environmental enforcement activities across the state.
