Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has praised Rivers State Governor, Similaye Fubara, and the people of the state for resisting political intimidation and manipulation during the recent local government elections.
In light of the concluded Rivers State Local Government Council polls, Atiku expressed his admiration in a post on his verified X account on Sunday. He stated, “With the conclusion of the local government election in Rivers State, the cloud of political intimidation and judicial trickery has cleared, allowing governance to begin in earnest.
“From the lively streets of Port Harcourt to the peaceful shores of Onne, the people have spoken in unison, affirming the strength of democracy!
“As foreseen, it is evident that the people of Rivers are sharp and determined, standing firm against political oppression, harassment, and the influence of self-serving political elites.
“While congratulating the newly elected local government officials, I encourage them to prioritize the welfare of the people, avoiding tyranny and misguided ambitions in their political journey.
“I also commend the brave people of Rivers State for their perseverance, ensuring a peaceful and credible election amidst challenges.
