The Taraba State Command of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has arrested a suspected human trafficker and rescued 10 minors in Jalingo, the state capital.
The arrest was confirmed in a statement issued on Friday by the State Commandant of NAPTIP, Mr. Bako Amos, and made available to journalists in Jalingo.
According to the statement, the operation was carried out on Friday, January 30, 2026, following a credible intelligence tip-off. NAPTIP operatives, working in collaboration with the Special Adviser to the Governor of Taraba State on Human Trafficking, Mrs. Sarah Ishaya, intercepted the suspect at about 11:00 a.m.
Mr. Amos disclosed that the suspect was apprehended at Kurmi Park, Jalingo, while allegedly making arrangements to traffic the 10 children to an unknown destination.
“The victims and the suspect are currently in the custody of NAPTIP, and a thorough investigation is ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding the trafficking attempt and to identify other possible collaborators,” the statement said.
NAPTIP reiterated its commitment to combating human trafficking and urged members of the public to continue providing timely and useful information to aid the agency’s operations.
