‎The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), in partnership with the Taraba State Ministry of Women Affairs and Child Development, has successfully reunited 10 trafficked minors with their biological parents in Jalingo.

‎The children were rescued on January 31, 2026, when NAPTIP operatives intercepted a woman transporting them at Kurmi Park. The group was reportedly on their way to Baissa, the administrative headquarters of Kurmi Local Government Area in Taraba State.

‎In a statement released on Monday, the Commander of NAPTIP’s Taraba Command, Mr. Bako Amos, disclosed that the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development, Mrs. Mary Sinjen, and the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr. Eric Juyo, visited the command on February 2, 2026. During the visit, they formally received the rescued children and interacted with them as part of the reunification process.

‎NAPTIP used the opportunity to warn the public about the dangers of irregular movement of vulnerable persons, particularly minors. The agency noted that such movements are often carried out without parental consent or through deception, under the false promise of better opportunities.

‎It further stressed that traffickers exploit children for financial gain, urging parents and guardians to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.

‎The agency reaffirmed its commitment to combating human trafficking and protecting the rights and welfare of children across the country.
