Nigerian comedian and singer Lawal Michael Nasiru Bolaji, popularly known as Nasboi, has embarked on a bold and unconventional nationwide campaign aimed at securing a music collaboration with Afrobeats superstar Davido.
In a move that has captured national attention, Nasboi is touring all 36 states of Nigeria, kneeling in front of government secretariats each day for 36 days with a placard pleading for a verse from the award-winning singer.
The campaign kicked off in Osun State, home to both Nasboi and Davido, where Nasboi knelt publicly outside the state’s Government Secretariat. In an emotional Instagram post marking the start of his journey, he reflected on his comedic breakthrough, which ironically stemmed from mimicking Davido’s voice in 2019:
“In 2019, I started mimicking Davido to get his attention for my music, but the videos blew me up as a comedian… I am back to plea with 001. Bless me with a verse for this song king.”

From Osun, Nasboi proceeded to Kano State on Day 2, where he was once again seen kneeling with a placard outside the Kano Government House. As of May 30, 2025, he has advanced to Owerri, Imo State.

Nasboi has urged his fans to help amplify his appeal by tagging Davido (@davido) in the comment section of each post. So far, his journey has attracted widespread social media attention, with fans and celebrities alike reacting to the stunt with a mix of admiration, curiosity, and speculation.
Davido, known for his humour and engagement with fans, responded to one of the Instagram posts with a laughing emoji and the words “set up.” While playful, the comment has kept fans guessing about whether the star will eventually accept the request.
Though originally known for his comedy, Nasboi has successfully pivoted into music, releasing several tracks including Umbrella featuring Wande Coal and Could This Be Love with Chike. His debut EP INIT includes features from prominent names like 2Baba and Falz, establishing him as a credible music act in his own right.
The 36-day tour is not just a quest for a verse; it’s a public performance of ambition, vulnerability, and relentless pursuit. Whether or not Davido grants the verse, Nasboi’s campaign is already a defining moment in Nigerian pop culture, blending humour, heart, and hustle in a way only few entertainers can.
