Abuja, Nigeria- The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) announced today, Friday, its main goals for 2026, directing commanders across Nigeria to step up efforts against drug cartels and increase public education about substance abuse.

The announcement followed a strategic meeting at the NDLEA National Headquarters in Abuja, which included top management, zonal and state commanders, and leaders of seaports, airports, and special operations units.

The Agency said 2026 will focus on reducing drug supply and demand, with commanders expected to maintain professional conduct, enforce discipline, and request reinforcements when needed to avoid casualties.

Programs to educate schools and communities will be strengthened, while State Drug Control Committees are expected to be functional in all states, extending activities to local government and ward levels. Arrests, seizures, and convictions will remain key measures of the Agency’s success.

NDLEA assured Nigerians of its commitment to protecting youths and families from illegal drugs, warning that drug cartels will face increased pressure this year and encouraging citizens to provide information to support enforcement efforts.
