Augustine Eguavoen, the interim coach of the Super Eagles, will continue in that role, according to the Nigeria Football Federation.
The NFF’s Technical and Development Sub-Committee recommended the nomination.
This was revealed by NFF on Thursday in a statement on X.
The statement says, “On Thursday, the Nigeria Football Federation’s Executive Committee approved the recommendation of its Technical and Development Sub-Committee for Coach Augustine Eguavoen, the Federation’s Technical Director, to continue as Head Coach of the Super Eagles and coach the team in its 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Libya next month.”
“In Matchdays 1 and 2 earlier this month, the 58-year-old, temporarily in command of the team he had led three times before, guided the three-time African champions to a 3-0 victory over Benin Republic and a scoreless draw with Rwanda.”
Next month, the national team will play Libya in a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match under the direction of Eguavoen, formerly the NFF’s Technical Director. His position is now much more solidified following his productive time serving as an interim coach.
In a related development, the NFF Executive Committee has also accepted the recommendation of the Technical and Development Sub-Committee for Coach Justin Madugu to lead the Senior Women National Team, the Super Falcons, and manage the remaining technical staff until a permanent head coach is named.
Following the unannounced resignation of Randy Waldrum, this alteration has occurred.
The Women’s Africa Cup of Nations finals, which are slated to take place in Morocco in the summer of 2020, will present the Super Falcons with their next big test.
